As the title says, today was my first day of school. This morning was rainy so Riku and I had to bike approximately 3 miles to school in the rain. Trust me when I saw it's not nearly as bad as it sounds. In fact, the bike ride is actually somewhat fun as I get to look around Yonago as I go.
When we got to school, we went to our home room and placed an extra desk next to Riku's for me to sit in. Once I got settled into that desk, I glanced towards the door and saw a mass of teenage girls looking at me. One of them waved at me so I waved back and the whole group acted like I had just done a backflip. I felt like I was a movie star. This persisted throughout the day.
The classes were fun to attend. I couldn't understand most of the Japanese but trying to figure it out was what made the classes enjoyable. During English class, the teacher had me pronounce the new vocabulary words for the class to hear. They seemed amazed at what I had said even though it was only a group of individual words. I was actually surprised during math class because what was being taught today in Yonago West's second year class (equivalent to America's juniors) was how to graph inequalities, something I had learned in freshman or sophomore year.
After school I attended the kendo club's practice. I was taught the very basics of kendo. I learned proper form, how to swing the sword correctly, and how to move. Kendo was very fun so I plan to return tomorrow and from now on.
Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures today because there is a no cellphone rule. However I did see some other kids using their phones so I may try to take pictures later on. I did manage to take the following pictures on the bike ride home however. For school, it was a very fun and exciting experience, and I look forward to going back tomorrow.

I am glad that your first day of school was fun. Maybe bring your actual camera with you to get some pictures at school.
